One Day, One Step

1. Decide it WILL happen, no matter what has to be done or how long it takes
2. Surround yourself with others who support and push you
3. Love the pain and struggle attached to your journey
4. Never EVER stop until you’ve reached the top of your mountain

It's Not Sexy, It's Sweaty …

During the closing ceremonies of this year’s Olympics, it hit me like a ton of bricks: Everything becomes probable the moment you believe it’s possible. Success, whatever that means to you, is attainable the second you decide you’ll do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Each one of those Olympians started their quest with a dream, and made a choice to commit years of their lives to the achievement of that dream – years! This is the true definition of the 1% Mindset. It’s not reserved for the “special people,” it can be yours right now, this minute. All you must do is decide that you want your goals more than you’re afraid of not reaching them.

The main ingredient in every highly successful person is the ability to eliminate “realistic” from their vocabulary and understand pain is mandatory. 1% isn’t sexy, it’s sweaty. It’s frustrating and often heartbreaking … but always rewarding.

Your Choice Dictates Every Outcome

At age 15, if Michael Phelps told you he’d earn 22 Olympic medals by the time he was 27, you’d say he was “unrealistic.” Every great accomplishment is unrealistic until it happens. The difference between the people who who attain those types of goals and people who never will – their definition of that word!
The 1% believe you can achieve absolutely anything. 99% only believe when evidence proves they should. Who are you?

Look Up, Get Up, Don't Ever Give Up

Michael Irvin was one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, but as a man, husband, and father, made many big mistakes. He lived the stereotypical professional athletic lifestyle – parties, women, and drugs. I posted this speech, because it shows the pain from his past decisions, the years he lost to be a role model to his two young boys, and his decision to change.
Your future’s coming – every choice you make today will determine what it looks like.

I Blame The Announcer

Mckayla Maroney, USA’s top Olympic vaulter, and huge favorite to win gold in that event, proves you must do more than show up if you want to win.
During Sunday’s broadcast, the announcer gushed over how big of a favorite McKayla was to walk away with the gold, repeating over and over, that it would be impossible for her to lose. “There’s never been a bigger favorite in Olympic history to walk away with a gold medal,” he continued mentioning. As I watched, listening to to him praise the automatic win, I told my wife I had a bad feeling about what was about to happen. Alarms in my head tend to sound when someone talks about a guaranteed win before any action has taken place.
This “guaranteed gold,” which turned into silver, is an example to all of us – the only thing that matters is what we do! Talking about how much you want it and how talented you are means nothing without the hours of action backing up those words. Of course, Maroney worked tirelessly to achieve the obvious skill she has, but as proven when she sat down on her second vault … action is the determining factor in every result we acquire!
Be fearless. Believe it’s coming. Work harder than you think is possible!
