Pain – Temporary, Inevitable, Mandatory

I posted this super quick snippet on my FB page, but wanted to also share it with you here.
Pain: A negative word for most. An extremely powerful word for the 1% Elite. The majority view pain as a setback or failure; a roadblock that makes them feel destined for mediocrity. The 1%, conversely, have written their success stories based on this pain. They’ve learned to not only accept struggle as part of the process, but also invite it as a crucial ingredient to the puzzle.
Nerve endings that scream on a daily basis have defined the paths of many men and women committed to excellence. “No pain, no gain” is a cliche and doesn’t mean much in the minds of most, but in the lives of the highly successful, is the headline that glows in neon wherever they travel.
The mistake the majority make is believing that the struggle they face is permanent, whereas the ones who keep punching understand pain is temporary, inevitable, and mandatory. Succeeding in the face of such pain is simply a mindset – a decision that’s made early on that guarantees success, no matter what it takes … period!

Your Circle Dictates Everything

I can’t overemphasize the importance of surrounding yourself with people who think, believe as strongly, and expect greatness as passionately as you do. Who you spend quality time with is who you’ll eventually become. Attach yourself to like minds with similar, lofty goals.

If you decide to separate from the pack, there will come a time where you’ll need to cut ties from friends who want you to “be realistic.” Separation from the majority includes anyone who settles for less on a regular basis, doesn’t mind mediocrity, and won’t risk stepping out of comfort zones.

The environment you create will determine the opportunities you’re afforded.

Every morning, make a habit of creating new habits. These habits will eventually shape your every day. Too often, we get caught up in our normal way of living … bad habit after bad habit. The mistake most make is trying to “change those bad habits.” Instead, focus only on the new habits you wish to create.

90% of everything we do is habit-based. Take an honest look at your every move, ask yourself what’s holding you back, and figure out what new habit will help you turn a corner. Very often, we know what we’re doing that’s not allowing us to reach another level, but rarely commit to creating something new. This is a decision that must be made before any type of change can manifest. You need to want the new more than you enjoy the comfort of the old.

What new habits will allow you to push past the daily barriers you regularly face? When you wake up tomorrow, what will you do, think, or change in your belief system that you didn’t yesterday?

Decide To Sacrifice

This is a guest post by Marty Hamm

Name your long term and short term goals. Do you know what you’ll need to do in order to achieve them? You may have somewhat of an idea. Now, think of the things that you will CHOOSE to give up in order reach those goals. A little harder, right? Choosing to sacrifice is easier said than done. No one in their right minds would want to give up something that they’re accustomed to having, but sometimes we have to do it so that we can get to where we want to be.
Everything worth having requires some type of sacrifice, no matter if it’s big or small. You have to be prepared to let it go so that you’ll have room for the new things in your life. There’s a reason why only a small percentage of people in the world are successful – they realize that sacrifice is not an option, it’s a must! You may have to give up time, money, relationships, freedom, sleep, your youth, and even some other aspirations, but in the end it’ll work out and all be worth it.
You can have it all. You just have to be willing to give it your all.
