#1PercentChallenge – Separating From Average

The #1PercentChallenge has been awesome! Just two weeks in, we’ve had so many inspiring and motivating entrants, all waking up between 4:00 – 5:00 am, and getting in their “separation grind.” @Greffrath_11, @jasdeepsingh64, and @DustinVanLieu haven’t missed a day, including weekends!

RiseAndGrind

There’s not a more peaceful time than waking up before the sun.

Jasdeep had knee surgery in the beginning of the #1PercentChallenge, but still hasn’t missed a day!

Dustin

Dustin’s up and ready to prove what it takes to separate from mediocrity!

You still have time to enter – the #1PercentChallenge closes September 5th. Each morning you wake up between 4:00 – 5:00 am, tweet “I’m up” to me, @OhoopsProfessor, or @GymRatStatus. Then, between 6:00 -7:00 am, send us proof of grind, via picture or video, which will put you into the prize pool for apparel, and exclusive rights to video and upcoming promotions.

OHoops Coach Ryan Sacrificing …

This was OHoopsCoachRyan post on Twitter yesterday, and what he’s doing during our #1PercentChallenge: “If 1% of people are up at 4 am, what % of people are up until 2 am doin work?”
He’s killing it on the court and in the gym, proving that excuses don’t exist in his world, and elite level success can only come from sacrifice, sweat, and pain! You can also find Ryan at OHoopsTraining – dude’s a beast. He’s the true definition of the #1PercentMindset!

Instant Separation From The Weak …

The Navy Seals live by this motto!

In other words, love the pain, invite the pain, ask for more!

Better Than Your Best

“Just do your best” sounds great, but is a cop-out!

BetterThanBest

No one knows what your best is … including you! You have an unlimited ceiling. Your best was in the past, in the form of  personal records, so when you say, “I’m going to do my best,” you’re ultimately telling yourself to repeat what you’ve already accomplished!

Your future best has yet to be seen, and impossible to predict. Instead of doing your best in every workout, training, practice, or game … I want you to strive for BETTER THAN YOUR BEST! Raise your bar past your old best. If you don’t squash your past best today, try again … and again … and again, until you can say, “I’ve done better than my best!” Then, repeat!

The difference between record breakers and people you’ve never heard of, is this exact mindset – they’re unafraid of going beyond what the majority think is possible, mentally and physically. The 1% don’t focus on “what if I don’t achieve it today,” they concentrate on the effort needed to achieve it today.

Never fear stepping beyond the realm of possibility, striving for more than the eye can see. Your mind and self belief will lead you to places once thought unimaginable.

My Why …

I can’t overemphasize having a detailed, emotional connection to your driving force – your Why! I’m regularly asked how to stay focused and motivated, when it feels impossible to keep fighting. Let me be honest – without a strong Why, you WILL quit! The majority stop, not because of a lack of talent or correct information at their finger tips, but because they didn’t have a powerful enough connection to why they were doing what they were doing.

Fame, fortune, and all the “outside stuff” will fade after a certain amount of pain and struggle hit you! Make your Why bigger than yourself – more important than personal glory. How would your success affect others? Who’s lives are changed because of your hard work and dedication?

I’ve said it many times, and I’ll continue to say it: My Why is my daughter! I wake up before the sun for her – not for her college fund, big house, or car she’ll own … but rather, for the mentality I’m helping create! Whatever she wants, she can have, IF she’s willing to put in the hours and sacrifice her comfort zone! My life revolves around her learned 1% Mindset. I want her to understand, and know deep in her core, that it’s perfectly o.k. to think differently, to want more than most, and to believe that “realistic” is THEIR word!

The Time Is NOW

What are you waiting for? Your opportunity WILL run out if you don’t seize it now! The 99% are waiting for someone to hand it to them, while YOU, the 1%, are willing to take it.

TAKE IT!
