Here's My 1% Interview …

I had a blast on the Golf Club Radio show, with Danielle Tucker!

If you’ve ever doubted yourself … listen! If you’ve ever wondered why, even though you’ve tried so hard to eliminate fears, but they won’t disappear … listen!

We also talked Tiger Woods, and I gave you insight on a PGA Touring Pro I sat down with last month.

Time To Choose …

CHoice

This email was sent to me by a major Division 1 college coach I’m close with – her player sent this to her, declaring a leadership role and a willingness to make this next season one to remember!

Hey Everyone!

It’s August! Which means we will be starting the season soon! Just wanted to let everyone know how excited I am for this coming year and all that we are going to accomplish together. I have been thinking and reading a lot these past few months about mindsets and overall positive energy and would just like to share my thoughts with all of you on what I think will help to make this season great! I would also like to hear any thoughts that any of you may have, your vision so to speak.

Throughout my 3 years in college I have seen a lack of focus and drive, which includes myself by the way. Yeah everyone shows up to practice and “puts in the time” so to speak but how much of this time is truly being used to get better. It’s not like we didn’t have goals as teams, but the focus to attain these goals seems to always slip through our fingers. This year that will be different! Our focus will be sharper, our attitudes will be great so that when me meet obstacles we are able to overcome them. The best part about all of what I am saying is that each and every one of us has a CHOICE! We decide to push each other at every opportunity. We decide to have positive attitudes at every practice! We decide everything in our lives! Yes coaches our are bosses so to speak but still u have a choice to listen and absorb or roll your eyes. Every part of your life is the way it is because of the choices YOU have made! so what will each one of us choose?! A BIG TEN championship or mediocrity. Just remember you control what you think, say, and do! This is what ultimately will give you your success in golf and in life. #choices

Let’s CHOOSE to be GREAT! BEST is our new standard!

The 1% Answer …

This text was sent to me by a Division 1 All-American golfer I’m humbled to work with. I’m posting it because, instead of feeling sorry for himself after a poor final round, he wanted to learn how to approach it, mentally. While most players would focus on “what if,” he wanted to know NOW WHAT?

I also posted my answer below.

MY REPLY TO HIM …

The World Will Soon Hear From Him …

Yesterday was the practice round of the Jr. World Championships at Torrey Pines. I was there with a student, Alex Marsh, who qualified from the UK. As the hundreds of kids from all over the world packed the putting greens and driving range, it was obvious this wasn’t your normal local event. There were flags from every corner of the globe, reminding competitors it was time to embrace the challenge or get lost in it’s enormity.

Alex did an amazing job remaining aggressive and continuing to attacking fearlessly. He’s committed to playing regret-free, leaving nothing on the table, mentally or physically. While many of the competitors may try to protect and “hope not to play poorly,” Alex will play like an athlete, think like an athlete … BE an athlete.

Today’s the first round of the Championships, but to Alex, is simply an opportunity to challenge himself; to stretch his comfort zone. He’s driven by what the majority have told him couldn’t be accomplish. They said he wouldn’t make it to the Jr. Worlds … he proved them wrong. This is only the beginning!

The 1% Family Leading The Way …

JackPerryfrombehind

Huge congratulations to 1% Family member and Northwestern’s #1 golfer, Jack Perry, for being named All American!!

His physical talent has never been questioned, but he’s now committed to the 1% Lifestyle and the sacrifices needed to take it past “really good” status – he’s now reached “great,” but isn’t satisfied. In a recent text, he said, “I was named All American, which is cool, but I WILL do better!” THAT’S the 1% Mindset – never settling!

His long term guarantees include winning multiple Majors on the PGA Tour. He’s not just hoping to make it on Tour, he wants to break records. Most would say that’s too high of an expectation … we say it’s already done … all that’s left is to show the world what it looks like!

His 1% Mindset Dominates

SamTowler

Congratulations to 18 year old, Sam Towler, for making it through Regional Qualifying for the 2013 British Open. He’s on his way to the open qualifying round, where WHEN he makes it, will be playing with the big boys at Murfield.

I’ve been blessed to be able to work with him this year, helping him become immersed in the 1% Lifestyle. Sam resides in the UK, but has committed to play his collegiate golf in the States, at Georgia Southern. He’s a sponge, mature beyond his years, and will be a regular on the PGA Leaderboards in the future. I’ll be making a more detailed highlight video of his progress soon.

2nd Place … AGAIN?

PhilUsOpen

6 runner-ups at the US Open isn’t a coincidence, it’s a pattern!

I won’t pretend to know Phil Mickelson from the inside-out, but I do know he’s a gambler, loving the adrenalin high that comes from defying the odds. The 1% Mindset is built on the foundation of doing what the majority are too afraid to do, but it’s also immersed in complete discipline and control.

Champions from all arenas know when to crank it into 6th gear and when to downshift into 4th. Talent isn’t enough … winning is an art form!

US Open – Tiger's Legacy Continues

US Open Golf

The US Open symbolizes mental and emotional strength – the ability to grind through 4 days of defining moments. For some, it’ll be their first opportunity at history, for others, a chance to add to their Major wins … but for another, this means MOMENTUM. For him, the US Open signifies legacy, defined as “best of all-time.”

When Tiger Woods talks calmly about winning his first Major is five years, don’t believe the hype – he’s not calm inside, he’s on fire! He eats, sleeps, dreams, and bleeds Jack’s record. This is what legends do – they immerse themselves in every ounce of the task. This record he so “calmly” talks about is part of his DNA. His dad embedded history into him from birth. While most are trying to “do their best,” Tiger’s guaranteeing to go beyond his best – past anyone’s belief of possible!

Alan's 1% Success Story …

Attachment-1

This future Success Story comes from UK golf coach, Alan Fletcher. It’s detailed, filled with 100% belief, as if he KNOWS there’s no other option but to make this a reality!

“My future success will be becoming the best golf and sports coach to athletes in the world, helping them believe and improve, whether it be physically or technically. I will have 5 of the top ten players, move to live the dream in the USA, consult and work with college teams and athletes and build an international sports brand … working 25/8 to be a great coach, husband and father!”
