Your Pain Is Temporary …

This is a text a student sent me, frustrated with the beginning of his professional athletic career. He’s realizing the struggle and pain needed to endure isn’t a dream – it’s real, and is what separates the ones who make it from the ones who talk about what if …

Whatever your situation, know that your struggle is temporary, but it will test your commitment and dedication to the process!

The 1% Family Leading The Way …

JackPerryfrombehind

Huge congratulations to 1% Family member and Northwestern’s #1 golfer, Jack Perry, for being named All American!!

His physical talent has never been questioned, but he’s now committed to the 1% Lifestyle and the sacrifices needed to take it past “really good” status – he’s now reached “great,” but isn’t satisfied. In a recent text, he said, “I was named All American, which is cool, but I WILL do better!” THAT’S the 1% Mindset – never settling!

His long term guarantees include winning multiple Majors on the PGA Tour. He’s not just hoping to make it on Tour, he wants to break records. Most would say that’s too high of an expectation … we say it’s already done … all that’s left is to show the world what it looks like!

2nd Place … AGAIN?

PhilUsOpen

6 runner-ups at the US Open isn’t a coincidence, it’s a pattern!

I won’t pretend to know Phil Mickelson from the inside-out, but I do know he’s a gambler, loving the adrenalin high that comes from defying the odds. The 1% Mindset is built on the foundation of doing what the majority are too afraid to do, but it’s also immersed in complete discipline and control.

Champions from all arenas know when to crank it into 6th gear and when to downshift into 4th. Talent isn’t enough … winning is an art form!

Life Changing Opportunity …

When opportunity comes knocking, open the door!

A few opportunities in your life have the power to change it all – I had one of those this weekend. I was blessed to spend the day with Eric Thomas, globally known motivational speaker and voice of  “If You Want To Succeed As Bad As You Wanna Breathe.”

More than the business wisdom he shared with me, I was impressed with his humility and true selflessness. He allowed me into his 20+ years of ridiculous work ethic and knowledge about how to take my “game” to another level. Of course, I’m grateful for the doors he offered to open for me, but even more than that, I was floored by the MAN he was – God loving, humble, and generous. Eric’s a true model of success – from the inside-out.

This day changed it all for me, and look forward to growing our relationship. When your day comes, will you be ready? Are you setting yourself up to bust through the door of opportunity? If you’re always ready, you won’t have to get ready.

Live It, Breathe It, Sleep It, Bleed It …

OnePercent

Thank you to @EnvyMyAmbitions on Twitter for sending me this picture. He tweets me regularly, focusing on how he’s going to separate himself from the pack – ridiculous work ethic is one of his biggest weapons.

What are YOU doing to distinguish yourself? What commitment have you made to to set yourself apart from the weak and timid? Are you modeling for your kids, students, or friends? Who would benefit from your personal redevelopment?

If you can’t do it for yourself … focus on those who may feel inspired watching you raise your bar. The 1% Mindset is a choice to wake up each morning, dedicated to living a fearless life, pushing boundaries past the majority’s small term thinking.

When will you start?

Will You Do More Than The Minimum?

photo-15

What you do when no one’s looking will determine your long term success. Are you doing the minimum or more than is expected?

Luc started immersed in fear, but is now one of the top underclassmen recruits in the U.S.

Check out his video on the HOME page: “Fear: Meet Luc.”

Would You Die For It?

DieForIt

I’d literally die for my family, if that meant they’d live to see another day! THAT’S drive, hunger … my reason for getting out of bed.

What belief, dream, or promise would you give your last breathe for? Make what you’re doing bigger than yourself – something that leaves a mark in your wake.

Success for self is empty success, but sacrificing for the people behind you or those who sacrificed before you … that’s genuine success.

When you wake up each morning, make it not about what you do, but rather, who you ARE!

Write It Down!

photo-12

She’s laser focused on making her WHY  a reality!

This high school junior is taking the time to write down her long term vision! She’s not just talking about it or hoping about it … she’s DOING about it. She’s committed to making the smallest, most insignificant detail come to life. She’s talked about what it looks like, and now she’s determined to live, breathe, and sleep it into existence.

The subconscious never shuts off, so what we put in, it spits out … good or bad. She’s loading hers up with guarantees the majority would think to be “unrealistic.” It’s only unrealistic until it’s accomplished, where it’s then called ROUTINE!

Take time to put on paper or on your computer, what you WILL have in the future – what it looks like and who you’ll need to meet in order for it to materialize.

Stop hoping, start doing!

THIS Is Why I'm Doing It …

Your success will be dictated by the strength of your purpose.

My Why is so strong, there’s nothing that can possibly stop me! I work my butt off in order to enjoy THESE moments … IMG_0608

We Have A Winner …

1Percent_Shirt

Congratulations to Max Gray for his inspiring Success Story ...
He's the winner of a 1% T-shirt.

"Sophomore year, my summer was going great. I felt unstoppable!
During one of my team scrimmages, I dove for a pas, caught it,
and landed weird. I got up and knew I was hurt, but kept going.
I was new to varsity and wanted to keep playing, but just couldn't.
I took a week off - I couldn't walk, sleep, or do anything without
pain.

The doctor said I was fine - just a sprained back. I began playing,
but it kept hurting. I went back to the same doctor, but he kept
saying it was just sprained. I didn't believe it. Was I really THAT
weak? A sprained back, and I'm in THIS much pain? I hated everything.

I finally went to a different doctor, who looked at the same MRI and
said it was FRACTURED! I had been playing for 2 months with a fractured
back. I remember being in so much pain, but nothing compared to when he
told me I'd never play football again. I was depressed, I cried - it
was extremely hard. I was stuck in a back brace for 6 months. I had
no motivation until one day I realized I couldn't give up! I watched
videos from Giavanni Ruffin, which inspired me a lot.

I was finally able to do little things like push ups and sit ups. Every
day, I was doing everything I possibly could. It hurt, but I knew
the pain wouldn't last forever - I kept pushing myself. I would go early
before school every day and just run, work out, and think. It was tough
because there was still doubt in me that I couldn't play again. I eventually
started track season, and hurt it again on the hurdles. I found a way
to fight back and made it to bi-districts. Now, I'm here ... taking no
days off, making sure that never happens again!

I truly feel blessed to be able to play football and be a State competitor in
track. I'm a fighter! I'm striving to be a kick returner and wide receiver
at the college level. I'd be humbled to play ANYWHERE!"
